Mel's Diner is a chain restaurant straight out of the movie Grease, and also serves as the Sand's 24-hour coffee shop. It's not fancy, but the $3 Player's Breakfast is an amazing value. Outside of that, it was a very average experience. If you need a $3 breakfast at 3am or 3pm, or just like the "diner" experience, this is the place to come. Summary Review: B-

There weren't any frills on our meal, and even the breakfast special didn't come with any toast. It wasn't fancy, but for $3 was very edible. Our chicken strips were thin, but still nicely crisp and tasty, and there were plenty of them. However, the fries that came under the strips were limp and lacked flavor. Food Review: C

It's what you'd expect from a diner - checkerboard flooring, a chrome edge along the tables, small jukeboxes here and there, 50's theme & memorabilia on the walls. Plus the place is clean. Atmosphere Review: B-

We were seated promptly, had our order taken quickly, and everything arrived as we expected. It seemed to take a little long to bring our food to the table, especially since the place wasn't very crowded. Our server checked on us several times and refilled our soda without asking. We ordered two meals here. The first was a chicken strip plate, and at $8 it wasn't very expensive, but it wasn't great, either. However, the second was the "Player's Breakfast", which included two pancakes, two eggs any style, and two sausages for only $3. THAT is a huge value! So, stick with the specials for amazing value.
