There are better buffets in Reno, and there are better restaurants in the Nugget. Barely-average food, a dated interior, and too high prices make for a less than impressive experience. The Buffet at the Nugget is only open from Thursday through Sunday for Lunch and Dinner. Summary Review: C

There was a variety of food, including various salads, fruits, antipasti, and some interesting starters like salmon appetizers. We went on "Italian Day", so there was a larger than normal selection of pasta dishes. Other main dishes included pork chops, fried chicken, tri-tip, trout, and a few other staples of buffet lines. The food could best be described as fine. There wasn't anything particularly great, there were definitely a few misses, but nothing really bad. The cheesecake at the dessert counter was quite yummy and the clear winner of the sweets category. Food Review: C-

The buffet doesn't occupy a large space at the Nugget, both Rosie's and Trader Dick's are larger. The carpet looked newer, and the seating was all clean and comfortable. However, it was obviously dated, and felt like a glimpse into the history of the Nugget and Reno gaming 30 years ago. Atmosphere Review: C-

We were seated quickly, our drink order was taken immediately and the drinks were waiting at the table when we returned from getting our food. The people working the two stations (Carvery and Desserts) were quite friendly, and our waitress checked on us several times and kept our drinks full. While the Rotisserie Buffet lacks in fanciness, the staff does an excellent job. Service Review: B

Our Thursday lunch buffet was $11.50 per person, so along with tax and a tip, you're over $25 for lunch for two. With prices on the higher side, food on the lower side, and an older atmosphere, there's not much value here for your experience. Other buffets in town are both cheaper and better if you want a solid buffet experience. Value Review: C-
